My name is Dawn Madden. I have been a parishioner at Resurrection Parish (my original parish was St. Thomas More) for about 18 years.
I started teaching Religious Education when my oldest son, Ayden started first grade. I moved up in grades with him until he made his confirmation and then started teaching my youngest son, Landen’s class and moved up in grades with him as well. I enjoyed sharing my faith with our youth while watching my own children’s faith grow. I wanted to share my passion for our Lord by teaching in a fun, engaging environment.
Nearing the end of the Religious Education year this spring 2024, I decided to stop teaching, but wanted to continue serving. I expressed interest in our Youth Group and before I knew it I was asked to become the new coordinator. I was excited and anxious, but I knew this is where God wanted me to be. I am so happy to be the new Youth Group Coordinator!
I get to share my Love for God again with our youth while having fun through games, outings, and volunteering; and again, I get to continue teaching our youth about God!
Some of our fun events so far have included a kickball game against Corpus Christi Youth Group, a trip to Cedar Point, a tailgate party, a trip to Simmons Farm, making lunches for the hungry through the Red Door, and games during Youth Group meetings.
We are currently preparing for our next Mission Trip for the summer of 2025 to New Castle and eastern Ohio, where we will spend a week repairing homes and spending time together at the Villa Maria Retreat Center. Preparation for the Mission Trip begins months in advance with team fundraising.
I look forward to continuing to bring our youth together by keeping God as our main focus and to grow our Youth Group in a fun-filled, faith-infused way! filled, faith-infused way!
