Zacchaeus… in today’s Gospel story was curious to see Jesus. Because Zacchaeus was a short person (“vertically challenged”), he climbed a tree to see Jesus through the crowds. I think our Lord was impressed with his ingenuity and extra effort. May we also do our best to see and seek Jesus in our lives.
Congratulations… to the many young people of our parish who received the Sacrament of Confirmation from Bishop Mark recently. May our confirmands always know the warmth of the Spirit and stay close to Jesus and the Church.
This is a busy week! Here are some upcoming events:
• Happy Halloween!… May our observance of Halloween on Monday be an innocent occasion of fun and joy, and may our young people have a safe and enjoyable time!
• The Feast of All Saints… is this Tuesday, November 1. It IS a hold day of obligation this year for all Catholics. See the Mass schedule for Mass times. Please note that there is NOT an anticipated Mass on Monday evening, October 31.
• All Souls Day… is Wednesday, November 2. It’s a day when we traditionally remember the faithful departed. Our annual Mass of Remembrance, recalling those whose funerals were held at our parish this past year, will occur on Saturday, November 5 during our regularly-scheduled 11:30 Mass at STM.
• Our first parish “Town Hall Meeting”… is this Thursday, November 3, 12:30-2:30 p.m. at STM Family Life Center. Two other meetings are planned for next week. These listening sessions will review our recent parish survey, and gather more information for our parish pastoral planning process. Your participation is welcome!
• Daylight Saving Time… ends next weekend. Please remember to turn your clocks back, and enjoy the extra hour of sleep!
