Hearts with Hammers 2021 SummaryHearts with Hammers is dedicated to repairing homes and rebuilding lives one soul at a time here in the South Hills of Pittsburgh. The mantra of this ministry is the words of St. James: “…faith without works is dead.”
We have helped dozens of people locally with simple cleanup jobs to fairly substantial carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work. Our clients are typically widows and single moms. We find they need emotional support just as much as physical and temporal help.We need resources to fulfill this mission. We do ask clients for their best effort to cover costs; however our need comes in many other forms, including: time and energy of volunteers, technical/physical skills, emotional support, organizational/logistic skills, cash and gift card donations, and referrals.
The reward is witnessing the volunteers’ selfless acts of love and sacrifice and seeing the clients’ faces change from despair to hope and joy. This is truly a “community of ministries” effort and your support in any form is most appreciated.
Our volunteers have experience in a variety of projects ranging from home repairs to yard work to cleaning. Some examples are:
- Spring Cleaning, Raking Leaves, Landscaping, Painting Decks
- Ramps, Windows, Doors, Floors, Insulation
- Drywall, Roofing, Sidewalks, Minor Plumbing, Minor Electrical
