Christianity Rediscovered - an Advent “Zoom” Bible Study Wednesdays: Nov. 30, Dec. 7 and 14 from 7:00 – 8:30 pm
The Lectionary Study Group (Tuesday mornings at SJC) will be offering a special online book study for Advent: Christianity Rediscovered by Fr. Vincent Donovan, C.S.Sp.
Fr. Donovan, a Spiritan priest, was a Pittsburgh native and a highly respected missioner and lecturer at Duquesne University. This is his account of evangelizing and ministering among the Masai of East Africa.
The book is fitting for Advent through Epiphany: our Sunday readings call us to conversion, to change our hearts, to literally change direction and discover ourselves anew. Fr. Donovan describes his work as “a journey of discovery”. Not only a self-discovery, this narrative is a deeper revelation of what it means to truly be a disciple and what it means to be church. It has been required reading in seminaries throughout the world.
“A journey of mind and soul, a disconcerting, shattering, humbling journey, but also a journey of discovery and liberation.” -The Messenger
We have conducted similar series for previous liturgical seasons. The book is readily available through Amazon in paperback at $14.79 and $9.99 on Kindle.
