This beautiful liturgical prayer finds its source in the Eucharist and is truly both ancient and ever new. Please join us for Morning Prayer on Thursdays at 8:00 AM before the 8:30 AM mass at St. John Capistran Church. Easy to follow booklets are provided.
Please join us on the First Friday of every month immediately after the 11:30 am Mass in the Lamb of God Chapel to pray the rosary and to pray a prayer of reparation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The First Friday Devotions are a set of Catholic devotions to especially recognize the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and through it offer reparations for sins. In the visions of Christ reported by St. Margaret Mary Alacoque in the 17th century, several promises were made to those people who practiced the First Fridays Devotions, one of which included final perseverance. According to the words of Christ through His apparitions to St. Margaret Mary, there are several promises to those that practice the First Friday Devotions: "In the excess of the mercy of my Heart, I promise you that my all powerful love will grant to all those who will receive Communion on the First Fridays, for nine consecutive months, the grace of final repentance: they will not die in my displeasure, nor without receiving the sacraments; and my Heart will be their secure refuge in that last hour." The devotion consists of several practices that are performed on the first Fridays of nine consecutive months. On these days, a person is to attend Holy Mass and receive Communion. If the need arises in order to receive Communion in a state of grace, a person should also make use of the Sacrament of Penance before attending Mass. In many Catholic communities the practice of the Holy Hour of meditation during the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament during the First Fridays is encouraged.

New members are always welcome to join the Ladies of Charity of Resurrection Parish. We meet on the second Monday of the month at 9:30 AM in Capistran Hall at St. John Capistran Church. We would love to have you join us! Come to a meeting or call Grace Monk (703-624-3985) or Michele Schnieders (412-973-2665) for more information, or RSVP to Resparloc@gmail.com.
Our group began in April 1999 and has met monthly since that date. We read a variety of books chosen from the suggestions members offer for consideration. One reward is that we find enjoyment in a book or author we had not previously thought of reading. We also discover that our impressions of a book or character can give insight to a view other than our own. Our purpose in meeting is to share a love of reading and to enjoy the fellowship of making new friends. It is not necessary to purchase books as we mostly borrow from the public libraries. Meetings are in the Family Life Center from 10am until noon on the second Monday of the month except for January. Members choose a month in which they provide light refreshments. Each month’s book selection is published in the bulletin and our website. Anyone can join us—just come and give us a try!
Volunteers meet the 2nd Monday of the month at 6:30PM in the Rooney Room to discuss upcoming projects. If you or someone you know needs home repair assistance, contact us: Phone: (412) 833-0031 ext. 246 Email: HeartsWithHammers@resurrectionpgh.org
