As I prepare to retire at the end of September (the 30th), I reflect back on my almost ten years at St. Thomas More Church, and now Resurrection Parish, with such fond memories of all of you and my work within the Parish. I started out working at the front desk; greeting people, selling gift cards, answering phones, scheduling Masses and Baptisms, and as the Safe Environment Coordinator. After a few years, I moved into the Office Manager position, and then taking care of funerals within the Parish, among a whole host of other “duties as assigned”!! Fr. Mike has asked me to continue as the Safe Environment Coordinator, so I will help with this on a limited basis.
I have worked more than 50 years and now feel it is time to step back and take time to figure out what I am going to do in retirement. I have two dogs; Sully a black lab (three years old), and Fletcher, a golden retriever (two years old). Sully is very active in many different sporting events including Fast CAT (100-yard dash), lure coursing (600-yard run), hunt tests and dock diving (my favorite)! Fletcher will be getting involved with dock diving too and this will give me more time to train with them during the week and not just in the early morning hours before work and on weekends. My son, Shane, daughter-in-law, Janet, and granddaughter, Fiona live in Wheeling, WV where I grew up, so I look forward to driving down and spending more time with them. I am thinking too that I might take up Pickleball and/or golf… hmmmmm?? I may even try to complete a book I started, a collection of short stories called The Little Green Man. One of my loves is saltwater fishing, namely surf and deep sea - can’t do much of it without traveling to the ocean, so I do see more of this down the road, especially during the winter months!
Meeting all of you throughout my years with this Parish has been such a blessing. I have enjoyed working with and getting to know so many of you. For me, this will be a process of trying to find my way and I will “find my way” in time. I want to express my sincere gratitude to God for giving me the opportunity to serve Him and this Parish, the four priests and Bishop I served under, deacons and seminarians who helped guide me on my pastoral journey at Resurrection Parish. To my wonderful, supportive co-workers (the best I have ever worked with) – THANK YOU for working with me and providing support each day, most especially Colleen Pauley and Sarah Wildenhain. To the Parishioners – thank you for your confidence in me serving you and this Parish. I will miss all of you. Please be assured of my prayers. As I continue on my new journey, please keep me in your prayers. May God bless all of you and your families. See you around!!
With love, Susie Levitt Soon-to-be the retired Office Manager
