Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year! I would like to take this opportunity to share some parish news with you all of you. Beginning on January 3, 2023, Bishop Zubik has appointed me to be the pastor of Resurrection Parish for a term of six years. I am very grateful and humbled by the opportunity to shepherd this parish, and I look forward to growing in faith with all of you over the course of these next several years.
I also want to take an opportunity to thank Bishop Mark Eckman for his leadership, guidance and service to this parish community. Bishop Mark was assigned to this community not once but twice, and has truly been a wonderful pastor, shepherd, and leader. I know that we all owe a huge debt of gratitude to him, as he has embodied what it means to be a servant leader and a disciple of Jesus Christ. Thankfully, we will still be able to see Bishop Mark as he will maintain his residence at St. Thomas More Church while he continues his duties as Auxiliary Bishop of Pittsburgh, Vicar General, and Vicar for Clergy and Consecrated Life. It is certainly an enormous responsibility for Bishop Mark, but I know that he is more than qualified and is the best person who could be chosen for this work. I personally also wish to thank Bishop Mark for his friendship, guidance and for being a mentor. I have learned much from him, and I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to serve with him. He has certainly made this parish alive and has assembled one of the finest staffs that I have ever seen.
Bishop Zubik will be here for the 4:00 p.m. Mass on January 21, 2023 at St. Thomas More Church to formally install me as the pastor of the parish; and you are, of course, most welcome to attend. I am truly excited and blessed to be here with all of you, and I thank you for your prayers, support, generosity and kindness. May we keep one another in prayer as we journey forward in faith. God’s Blessings to you all!
