The Feast of the Holy Family reminds us that our defining quality is holiness. Families today come in all shapes and sizes, but we look to the sacredness of their commitment to and their love for one another as the most essential qualities. We also celebrate the Holy Family of Saint John Capistran and Saint Thomas More parishes, two vibrant faith communities just beginning the process of coming together as one. You might think of this period as our engagement and courtship as we learn more and more about each other, out traditions and our mission together. We are truly blessed as a Holy Family. We are a people who have chosen to say “yes” like Mary, to be strong and loving protectors like Joseph and to follow and imitate Jesus in our love for each other. We are a Holy Family.
To our Holy Family, I would like to thank you for your many Christmas cards, gifts and goodies which made our first Christmas together so very special in so many ways. I would like to thank all of our ministries for their dedicated service in this season and throughout the year. Thanks too to a staff that makes everyday a day of joyful ministry for and with Our Lord. All of you are a gift that inspires me each and every day. You are one holy family that shows the power and presence of Christ in all you do and all that you are.
As we approach a New Year, know that I wish you a year full of God’s choicest blessings. May it be a year of prayer, grace and peace. In 2019, may God bless the work of our hands and our hearts. Happy New Year, holy family. You are the best and I love you with all my heart. Happy New Year!
