“Christians to the Paschal Victim, Offer your thankful praises!” This is the sequence that is sung on Easter prior to the gospel acclamation at Mass. The Church today rejoices with all Christians around the world as we celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, a triumph that offers all of us hope. Pope Francis in a 2020 address on Easter Sunday stated, “Dear sister, dear brother, even if in your heart you have buried hope, do not give up: God is greater. Darkness and death do not have the last word. Be strong, for with God nothing is lost!” That is the great joy of Easter, the remembrance that Jesus has triumphed over evil, sin, death, sickness and suffering, and now we too inherit that same promise. Easter is not simply a one-day celebration, but it lasts 50 days culminating in the sending of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. May the joy of the Risen Christ fill your hearts! Christ has truly risen! Alleluia!
Pastoral Plan: Over the course of the past year, Resurrection Parish has been working with the Catholic Leadership Institute (CLI) to develop priorities for the parish over the next three years. I am happy to say that our planning committee consisting of the pastoral council, members of finance council, and several ministry heads have decided upon three areas of focus. Those areas are: to create a parish where all can feel welcomed, to establish a vibrant youth and young adult ministry, and to increase opportunities for faith formation and for evangelization. We need everyone’s help and prayers to make these goals a reality. There will be more information coming over the next several weeks, but please pray for the Holy Spirit to guide us as we seek to strengthen relationships with Jesus Christ and His Church.
