The late Pittsburgh Penguins announcer Mike Lange had a catchphrase when something spectacular happened in a game, “You’d have to be here to believe it!” This Sunday we celebrate something truly spectacular - the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. The horrific events of Good Friday have led to the triumphal joy of this Easter Sunday, and our lives are forever changed. As the Catechism instructs, “The Paschal Mystery has two aspects: by his death, Christ liberates us from sin; by his Resurrection, he opens for us the way to a new life.” (CCC 654) This great Solemnity reminds us that sin and death do not have the final say. Instead, we have the possibility of eternal life in the Kingdom of heaven with our savior. On Easter, we too rejoice with the early disciples who encounter the empty tomb, and the seemingly impossible. We give thanks to our God for offering us salvation and victory over the grave, and we celebrate the greatest event in the history of the world. On behalf of all the staff and clergy of Resurrection Parish, I wish all of you a most blessed and Happy Eastertide and Easter season. May the joy of the Resurrection enlighten our minds and hearts and allow us to know God’s love for us in a most profound way. It is so amazing that “You’d have to be here to believe it!” Alleluia!!!!

Octave of Easter… The Parish Offices will be closed on Easter Monday in celebration of the Octave of Easter. Every day until the next Sunday (Divine Mercy Sunday) is treated as a solemnity, basically meaning it is Easter Sunday for eight days! The Easter Season is 50 days long, so continue to celebrate all the way to Pentecost on June 8th!!!
Christ is Risen! He is Risen Indeed! Alleluia!! Fr. Mike
