In today’s second reading… Saint Paul tells us: Do not conform yourselves to this age, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and pleasing and perfect. Although those words were written nearly two thousand years ago, they are as pertinent now as they were then. As Jesus reminds Peter in today’s Gospel, we need to think as God does. This is not easy! It can be a heavy cross to carry. But Jesus reminds us that those who take up their cross and follow him will be rewarded in the next life.
Labor Day… is on Monday! As we relax a bit on this holiday, we pray for all workers, as well as for those who are unemployed or underemployed. Why not start the day by coming to Mass? We are only having one Mass on Labor Day: 10:00 a.m. at St. John Capistran. There is not a Mass at St. Thomas More that day. Please note that our Parish Office will be closed on Labor Day.
A good time… was had by all at our Parish Picnic last Sunday! Many people came to enjoy faith, food, and fellowship. Events like this help our Parish to become stronger and more united. Thanks to all who participated, and special thanks to all who worked so hard to make the day a success.
