Like Peter, James and John, we would all love to stay on the mountain in the presence of our glorified Savior, but we know that we are sent by Jesus into the world to be a blessing. As Abram was called, chosen and blessed by God, he was told he should and would be a blessing to others. He is called to encourage, comfort and serve others in the name of God. His thanks for his blessing is to be that same gift for his nation and his people.
Like Peter, James and John, we see the risen Christ in the gift of the Eucharist that transforms us into a community of faithful disciples who seek to bless our world with the power and the presence of Christ. As Jesus blesses us, we share his life and his love in all we meet and we seek to transform every moment of life into a moment of blessing. We are helpful, kind, compassionate and forgiving. We live for Christ, in Christ and with Christ. He is the blessing and gift we share.
Today we thank God for all the blessings we have received and we go forth to share those blessings with each other. Encountering the living presence of God in both word and sacrament, we grow in grace as we share those graces with our sisters and brothers. Having been to the mountain, having been to the altar of God, we go forth to bless, to heal and to love. That which we have seen and heard and shared, Jesus, the Risen Lord, we now bring to all.
