Today we return to Ordinary Time. All time is sacred to the Lord and is His gift to us. Ordinary time simply refers to the fact that we are not in any particular liturgical season such as Advent or Lent, Christmas or Easter. Still ordinary time calls us to do extraordinary things.
The readings today remind us that the glory of God is to shine through us. We are called, like Saint Paul to be ambassadors for Christ. We are chosen, like John the Baptist, to point the way to Jesus. Our daily life is to be a living portrait of who God is for us and in us.
So we are called and sent. We are the people of God seeking to build the Kingdom through acts of faith, hope and love. For us as a parish family, this means we must work together to unify our two wonderful churches into one thriving parish. I know we can do this We have a rich history of faith, a treasury of hope and an abundance of love. We truly are one family with one faith and we belong to Christ. With him and through him, all is possible. Let the Lord shine through us.
