Trust is an essential quality of our faith. Like our ancestors, Abraham and Sarah, we trust that Our Lord will fulfill all his promises to us. Even in their old age, they trusted that the Lord would make them the parents of a great nation, a promise fulfilled after their time on earth. As the author of the letter to the Hebrews assures us, faith is the realization of what is hoped for and the evidence of things unseen.
The Gospel relates that, as we await the second coming of Jesus, He has made us stewards of His mission and his ministry. We are the people He has chosen to carry out His work of mercy and compassion. We are now called to be people who forgive, heal, teach, love and build His kingdom through acts of faithful love each day. Blessed are we, the stewards He has chosen, to work until His return. We are active, energetic, busy people who build up the world in the name and the person of Christ. We are Christian not only in name but in word and deed as well.
We look forward to the return of Jesus with blessed hope that we will be part of His heavenly kingdom. We work eagerly to bring the gift of Jesus to all we meet. We work hard, using our gifts and talents to build up our families, our parish, our community and our world. We stay active in our mission to be true disciples of Christ. We are always open to being and doing more because Jesus assures us of His trust in us. More will be given to those who have been entrusted with so much. May we answer His prayer and may we reward His trust by completing all the work He has entrusted to us.
